Movie on the Green
Monday, September 4th, 9:30-11:30 p.m.
Have you ever wanted to awkwardly sit next to people you barely know while watching 2016’s adaptation of The Ghostbusters? If so, then the Movie on Case Green is perfect for you!
Not only will you wish you wore more layers or brought a blanket, there will also almost certainly be people angrily whispering behind you about how they’d rather be watching the real Ghostbusters.
The best part, though? Someone saying, “What do you mean, real Ghostbusters?”
Founder’s Day BBQ
Tuesday, September 5th, 4:30-6:30 p.m.
There’s no party quite like a Glotzbach party. Under that huge fucking white tent in front of the library, Phillip, Marie, and the whole SGA are ready to get the schoolyear raging with a BBQ like you’ve never seen before. Featuring music from the Fenimore Blues (we haven’t heard of them either), Mr. Bouncy Bounce (which better be a large bounce house shaped like a douche-y club DJ), and horses (because why the hell not), the afternoon is sure to be magical.
Oh! And get your hashtagging thumbs ready for the constant reminders to use #Skid4Life in your newest social media posts. We can practically guarantee they will bring out the large cut-out frame of an Instagram post for you to pose with.
Skidmore Theater Department Welcome and General Meeting
Wednesday, September 6th, 6:30 p.m.
Hoping to continue your Broadway aspirations? Or perhaps you’re new to the stage and think you’re a better actor than most Theater Majors? Then you MUST attend the Skidmore College Theater Department’s introductory meetings at the JKB!
Want to turn a good time into the best time? Bring a friend who will fall in love with the bright lights and Larry Opitz. They’ll definitely change their plans for the entire semester and audition for the chance to rehearse every day to say nothing on stage. To ensure this, we suggest elbowing them each time a play you recognize is mentioned. Then, after the meeting, you can fill them in on the millions of inside jokes that would’ve taken too long to explain and interrupted all the fun. They’ll love it.
Friday, September 8th, 3:00-5:00 p.m.
On the green outside Dining Hall, Club Fair is all about being true to yourself.
Otherwise, you’ll be bombarded by the army of tables, getting yelled at by people you’ve never seen until you feel weird enough to write your email into their laptop. Then, for the rest of your Skidmore career, you’ll get the opportunity to ignore those emails and regret your sheepish tendencies.
Saturday, September 9th, 7:00 p.m.
How much do you love A Capella? How about improv? How about Japanese drumming? Irish dancing? More A Capella? More improv? Another comedy group? Cabaret?
If you answered, “Tons! :)” to all these questions, then Club Showcase in Zankel is going to be an absolute blast!
But chances are you probably only like one or two of these things. So, get pumped for maybe two or three acts, then sit back, relax, and endure the next hour. Did we mention there will be A Capella?
