After flipping a coin periodically throughout his life, area wise man Kevin Franklin concluded that coins land heads every time. Backing up his findings, he noted his “32 years of life experience” several times, along with the fact he has “flipped a coin at least 4 times in 2 different states” and it always landed heads.
When told this was incorrect, that the laws of probability tell us that the chances of heads or tails is 50/50, Franklin was enraged. “You can use all the textbook facts you want,” Franklin was quoted, “but I’m going to use my actual, real experience. All coins land heads 100% of the time.”
To combat his findings, this reporter flipped a coin for Franklin. When it landed tails, Franklin shook his head.
“Maybe,” he said, “you’ll understand when you’re older.”
